Here at Kendon Packaging, we’re one of the UK’s largest packaging manufacturers – so we know packaging inside out, and have been an independent family business operating in the industry since the 1930s. Below, we’ve listed a few things you need to know about us, our products, and our environmental policies – so you can discover what’s made us one of the UK’s largest and most respected packaging suppliers.

1. We have years of experience

Kendon Packaging was founded in 1933 in East London, and the Kendon family has been running the company ever since. Since then, we’ve expanded to include manufacturing sites in Nottingham, Dewsbury and Manchester, manufacturing everything from traditional rope and twine to cutting edge recyclable plastics. Unlike other companies, we’re proud to say we have 84 years of family expertise, which has helped to make us a formidable force in the UK packaging sector.

2. We made way for the Olympics

You tend not to think about what is needed when making way for a grand, era-defining event like a Summer Olympic Games, but believe us, there’s a lot of prep that goes into an event like this! In the case of London 2012, more than 270 businesses had to make way for the stadium complex to be built, including one of our oldest manufacturing sites.

Our original Bow Paper Works stood on the banks of the River Lea, right in the middle of what is now the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Ourselves and a number of other businesses adhered to a compulsory purchase order and seamlessly moved our paper operation up the river to Enfield, allowing the beautiful and historic venues for the games to be built.

3. We’re environmentally conscious

Kendon has long been one of the most environmentally-friendly packaging manufacturers in the UK market. We have a strong commitment to coming up with recyclable packaging solutions for any sector. We actively promote the use of recycled materials, as well as avoiding harmful and dangerous materials to work with. We are signed up to the Biffpack recycling compliance scheme and we donate waste paper material to local projects, to build links with local communities and reinforce our status as a conscientious provider of cardboard packaging.

4. Kendon supplies a wide range of products

Our extensive network of manufacturing sites across the country means that we stock everything related to packaging you could possibly need. From packaging tape in all the major variants, to cardboard and postal materials, you can be assured of our expert knowledge across all different product types – we know to call it duct tape and not ‘duck tape’! Whatever object or product you need shipping and protecting from the outside world, we can supply the solution as one of the UK’s largest bubble wrap suppliers – or if you need to brand your packages, then we also offer a wide range of custom packaging, suitable to give your package a bespoke,

personalised look.

5. We’re not just Kendo

The Kendon Packaging Group has a number of different trading names under its wing, including Portland Polybags, experts in bespoke HDPE bags, Ingham Paper and Packaging, based in Devon, and the Manchester based paper distributor T Y Nuttall. We’ve drawn on all of the expertise gathered from these companies to become one of the most respected and largest packaging companies in the UK.
